What is a Mudra? How can it help me?
A Mudra is a sacred hand gesture used in many spiritual traditions including Yoga. Classically described in Sanskrit as a "seal" or "posture", they are used to direct internal energy in certain ways to generate healing (& other effects) in different parts of the body/mind. I started using healing mudras in my practice with patients who has certain disorders who I felt could benefit from this healing science. Recently I gave a heart healing mudra to a patient who had palpitations and anxiety. When she reported back the next visit, she told me the palpitations were almost gone after 1-2 MINUTES! So, what I have decided to do is spread the wealth by teaching this to you!
This heart mudra can be used for symptoms such as PALPITATIONS, ANXIETY, HEART IRREGULARITIES (fast or slow), and the yogi I learned it from says it can even help a person having a heart attack (although I have not had the chance to try that usage). However, I have found that I have had patients who have recurrent long lasting episodes (30+minutes) of palpitations which WILL OFTEN GO AWAY IN 1-2 MINUTES from doing this hand posture. Try it or tell someone you know who has them to give it a try for a few minutes and see.
This mudra can be done as "first-aid" only when you have the symptom, OR it can be done foe a few minutes every day to prevent the problem from occuring and heal the underlying imbalance. I would reccommend 5 minutes here and there when your hand(s) are free and not doing anything else. Good luck and let me know your experience of using it by sending me an e-mail to info@rootandbranchom.com
